Join the Karaoke Club - How to Warm Up Your Voice before Singing Karaoke

Many people who are going to sing karaoke simply stomp up there and sing, without a thought for preparation. While you might do an excellent job without any preparation, if you did just a little, you might really knock it out of the park. One of the things you can do to join the karaoke club is to prepare or warm up your voice.  Below, you’ll find a few great exercises you can use to warm up your voice before you sing, so that you sound really fantastic.

Before you hit the stage, spend a few minutes humming. Start with a very low pitch and then raise it so that you’re humming a higher and higher pitch. This will help loosen your throat and make it easier for you to sing at your best. You might even hum the tune to the song you’ll be singing so it’s fresh in your mind before you go up in front of the crowd.

Another thing you can do is the ‘lip trill.’ This is something professional singers do before they go on stage, and if it’s good enough for them, then it’s good enough for you, right? Allow your lips to vibrate and hum at the same time so that you sound like you’re trying to talk under water. This is a great way to get your voice prepared and feel the diaphragm working.

You’ve probably seen performers go through the scales before getting on stage, and this is another wonderful way to ensure that your voice is prepared and ready to sing. This will help loosen your throat and prepare your vocal chords to sing a great song! If you don’t warm up your voice before singing, you could end up coughing, singing off key, or sounding terrible.  In conclusion, to join the karaoke club, simply follow the above tips and in no time at all, you'll be a singing superstar.
